What makes TLC Companions different from other childcare referral services?


The key to choosing the right childcare companion is TRUST. The primary goal at TLC Companions is to alleviate the stress, time, and guess work it takes to find a qualified companion or nanny.  We have taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of each child. A full criminal background and reference check is conducted and companions are infant/child CPR and first aid certified.  All companions are at least 18 and are required to have at least 2 to 3 yrs of previous childcare experience. 


All work history is thoroughly checked before candidates are allowed to take an assignment. 
In addition, each companion or nanny that accepts a long-term assignment will be required to register with Trustline.

What qualifications should a childcare companion or nanny have?  How do I conduct a background check on a nanny? How can I ensure my companion or nanny has had previous childcare experience? Will my companion or nanny meet my family’s needs? These are just a few of the questions that you may want to consider.

Trustline is the California registry of  in-home child care providers who have passed a background screening. The California Legislature created TrustLine® to offer parents, agencies and providers access to background checks. A background check will include the Criminal History system, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) records along with a Child Abuse Index Check.


California state law §1812.501 of the civil code applies to all childcare providers working within a home. The records are accessible through the Department of Social Services and are transferable with TrustLine®. An advantage of registration shows pride in oneself and professionalism.
